About Our Farmstand

Dar & Darryl's Farmstand actually started with a simple moment. One day Darryl saw a farmstand on TikTok and said, Dar, I think you would like one of these. I said you're probably right, and we decided to try it. Naturally every friend I had thought Dar has talked Darryl into a farmstand. Were they surprised when they found out Darryl was the mastermind behind this adventure.

What started as a small idea quickly turned into something much bigger. One thing led to another, and it grew into my full-time work baking bread, cakes, cookies, and homemade treats for our little community.

My canning group with Lisa Layne and Beth Jordan, known as "Happy Hens Canning, " would have a display in there selling our canned goods made from our gardens or locally grown produce.

As the farmstand began to grow, something unexpected happened. It started bringing people together.

*One day Wendy showed up at my door inviting me to a new local farmers market. We quickly became friends and I learned she had her own fresh flower and herb business, Ridgecrest. It just felt natural for her to become one of our first vendors at the farmstand. She sells seasonal fresh bouquets and her special blends of dried herbs and garlic.

From there other Vendors began joining us:

*Paws Up joined in memory of my Best Friend My Red Heeler "Sammi" I had just lost her after our companionship of almost 18 years. So, any pet treats sold at the farmstand all proceeds go to their foundation Palms up, that helps women trying to get back on their feet and learn new skill. I thought it so appropriate since Sammi many years ago, because of the grace of God help me get back up on my feet. The story became full circle.

*An old-time ballpark friend came by the farmstand one day and I found out she makes the most incredible loomed potholders, that i must admit to date I've probably bought over a dozen of them they're so good! She soon joined our little growing farmstand vendor family.

*Then I was introduced to my new good friend James Roberts, Green Farms, who is a local beekeeper, and he joined the vendor team with his local Raw honey. He is my prayer warrior and biggest supporter. His honey is highly sought after!

*I met a wonder lady named Ruth who owned a large boondock campground destination Several 100 acres on Whitwell Mountain way down in the Pocket Community. Low and behold she made all natural soaps, lotions, and she joined the team and her product line has grown so much. Her tallow being highly sought after.

*My son works with a wonderful young man named Eric who had just started making concrete Porch Geese and we all know they're all the rage! I couldn't miss that opportunity so know Eric and his growing geese family has become a big part of our farmstand family.

* That partnership then led me to an old church buddy, Rhonda who i knew sewed and I approached her about making Porch Goose outfits, because you can't have a porch goose without an outfit. Well, she looks at me like I'd grown two heads but went along with the madness and now her goose outfits are becoming a success with us selling local as well as shipping to other states.

*Then there's Sandy, what to say about Sandy, other than she a good good friend! We went to high school together and joined up with her and there not anything this lady can't do. She had crocheted items, sourdough jar cozies, plushies, kitchen boa's, we'll let me just say the list is too long for me to give you.

We also teach sourdough classes together in my kitchen and will be opening more classes this summer and hopefully throughout the year if demand is still present.

* Our latest vendor to join the family is Mama's glass nail files, that she blooms into beautiful lifelong nail files that keeps your nails smooth and healthy We are so blessed to have her join the team!

Darryls is building raised tomato beds down by the farmstand this year and we plan to have a pick and pay produce stand added and I know have a brightly lighted greenhouse in my bay window in the living room that all passersby get to enjoy while driving by the little farm. We are so looking forward to offering this to our little community.

I most sure the story will not end here. It is a growing work of art, and I love the way we have all become a little community of local artisans growing our own little destination spot in the community.
